Around 1,000 people ask for the help of Serbia’s Red Cross branch in Presevo (southeastern Serbia) every day, Secretary General Vesna Milenovic has said.

According to her, “all efforts are put in to supply the center regularly.” “The Red Cross of Serbia intensively provides different kinds of assistance to migrants who cross the Macedonian border and arrive in Presevo every day and all day long,” Milenovic told Tanjug.

“Over the past ten days, there has been a large inflow of migrants seeking assistance. The aid consists of food and hygiene items,” she noted.

According to Milenovic, it is estimated that around 1,000 people turn to the Red Cross on a daily basis, which is one half of those who enter the country. It is also assessed that 70 percent of them are men, 20 percent women and 10 percent children, she added.
