Serbia will do everything it can to make it clear to UNESCO members that allowing Kosovo to join this organization would be a harmful move.

This is what Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic said in parliament on Thursday, answering questions from deputies.

“The main intention of the promoters of this initiative is to turn the Serb cultural heritage into Kosovo’s,” Dacic said.

He added that Executive Board of UNESCO is expected to meet in the fall, but that the UN should first give its opinion on the initiative, which, he said, was the reason he recently sent a letter to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.

The minister urged the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SANU) and the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) to participate in “the diplomatic fight” for the Serb cultural heritage in Kosovo.

According to him, the behavior of the (Kosovo) Albanian side in the negotiations in Brussels confirmed that Pristina needs to obstruct the Brussels agreement and its implementation for internal political reasons.

“The most significant part of the agreement that has not been implemented is the formation of a community of Serb municipalities (ZSO),” said Dacic, adding that “Albanian ruling parties do not agree on the establishment of a special court for crimes of the KLA, which is reflected on the talks in Brussels, on which depends the progress of Serbia in EU integrations.”
