Agreement on mutual recognition of vehicle insurances to be implemented as of August 12

Delegations of Kosovo and Serbia in Brussels talks agreed to start, as of 12 August 2015, the implementation of the agreement on mutual recognition of the insurance policies for vehicles.

Head of Kosovo delegation, minister for dialogue Edita Tahiri said, following the meeting, that everything is set for the implementation of the Agreement as of August 12. According to Tahiri this Agreement is in the best interests of citizens because from they don’t have to pay additional fees while crossing to Serbia.

Government approves agreement on border demarcation with Montenegro

Government of Kosovo, in its regular meeting, approved the initiative for reaching an agreement between Kosovo and Montenegro on border demarcation.

Addressing Government’s meeting, Kosovo Prime Minister Isa Mustafa said that the initiative for signing the agreement with Montenegro is very important for Kosovo’s development. “It marks our borders with the neighbouring countries and building of new relations based on respect for the state borders”, Mustafa emphasized

While for Kosovo’s Foreign Minister Hashim Thaçi, the agreement on border demarcation advances the bilateral relations. “Through this agreement, we confirm our reciprocal commitment to neighbourly relations, security, stability, and regional cooperation” said Thaçi.

However, nothing was said or raised about the allegations that Montenegro has moved the border within Kosovo’s territory while the meeting continued with other agenda points.

The government cabinet discussed also about the recent floods in Macedonia. Minister of Kosovo Security Force said that if requested KSF is ready to offer search and rescue assistance in the flooded areas.

On the other hand, PM Mustafa informed his cabinet about the commendations he has received from the international community following the approval of Special Court.

State Prosecutor reacts to allegations against Prishtinë/Pristina Basic Court President

Concerned with the public discourse between the judges and prosecutors, State Prosecution said that that these conducts are running the authority of the justice system.

Through a reaction sent to the media, State Prosecution emphasized the fact that no prosecutor or chief prosecutor is not in a position to comment the management skills of any judge, President of Court or any other official of Kosovo Judicial Council (KJC).

The public statement that allegedly Prishtinë/Pristina Basic Court President interferes in the work of the judges of this court is unacceptable and unethical.

“If there are such elements, then investigations should be initiated and evidences should be collected but prosecutors should not raise any assumption or allegations under no circumstances,” reads the media reaction of the State Prosecutor.

Few days earlier, the Chief Prosecutor of Prishtinë/Pristina Basic Prosecution, Hamdi Ibrahimi, said during KTV’s show ‘Puls’ that Prishtinë/Pristina Basic Court President interferes in the work of the judges of this Court.

FOL: Mustafa government met only one objective, out of 160 planned

The FOL Movement published a study report which says that the government of Kosovo headed by Prime Minister Isa Mustafa, has only met one objective in six months, out of 160 planned.

FOL also released a report on non-transparent Ministries. The Foreign Affairs Ministry, which is headed by Hashim Thaçi, has been assessed as the most non-transparent. On the other hand, according to FOL, the most efficient Ministry is the Finance Ministry headed by Avdullah Hoti.

KDI: Prishtinë/Pristina municipality increased its transparency

Several municipalities in Kosovo have marked regress as it regards the transparency, notes a research carried out by Kosovo Democratic Institute (KDI) that covers the period of January-June 2015.

According to Qendresa Hamzaj of KDI, Prishtinë/Pristina municipality has marked progress as it regards the level of transparency, while in the municipality of Gjakovë/Djakovica the transparency level has decreased. Also Prizren municipality has not marked any progress and, according to KDI, Prizren has failed to reflect any of the KDI recommendations from last year.

The study notes that municipalities also lack financial transparency.
