Release of Olvier Ivanovic pending trial was requested today at the protests held today in front of the EULEX headquarters in Pristina.

Around hundred protesters, along with his family members, held banners where it was written ‘Political prisoner’ and “Justice Yes, Politization of Justice No’.

Deputy chairperson of the Civic Initiative SDP Oliver Ivanovic, Ksenija Bozovic, said that the requests of protesters are clear because the situation is alarming, and added that it is sad that Ivanovic is forced to seek justice in the most difficult way – by going into the hunger strike.

One of the protests organizers Živojin Rakočević sadi that citizens, intellectuals and journalists have decided to come in front of EULEX in order to say that Oliver Ivanović is political prisoner.

“Olvier Ivanović is held in detention due to creation of the special court, by creation of a fake balance without any grounds, and we gathered here against that sort of balance and against such ethnic approach. We want to say to EULEX that there are no political prisoners, and this man, according to what we could see so far and what we know from inside, is political prisoner,” said Rakočević.

Same requests were made and at the protests in North Mitrovica where around 700 protesters gathered along with the leader of the Serbian List Aleksandar Jablanović, Mayor of North Mitrovica Goran Rakić, chairperson of the provisional body of Kosovska Mitrovica (Serbian administration) Aleksandar Spirić, and Mayor of Zvečan/Zveçan Vučina Janković.
