Self-Determination movement has announced that, if Kosovo government accepts to create Association/Community of Serb municipalities in Kosovo, they will stage most radical protests seen so far, “on the verge of a war”. Is it about a new wave of Serbophobia due to the creation of the special war crimes court in Kosovo, or about efforts in introduction of some discipline in Self-Determination, since there are some speculations in political circles that pacification of this movement, what is mostly worked on by Washington, is on the crossroad?
Political analyst Fatmir Sheholli is not excluding any of those speculations and warns that such statements are very dangerous, since they are coming from the third powerful party in the Kosovo parliament, and hopes that it is about ‘isolated voices within the Self-Determination, because they are incompatible with the urban and civic political concept favored by some other members of the movement, such as Shpend Ahmeti, Ilir Deda and some MPs from its ranks. He went on to say that Association/Community of Serb municipalities (A/CSM) is international obligation deriving from the Brussels Agreement, and that opposition in Kosovo could be against it, but they should know that Serbs are equal citizens of Kosovo.
Kosovo Deputy Prime Minister Branimir Stojanović, claims that government has to implement all obligations stemming from the Brussels Agreement, including the A/CSM, whereas Self-Determination movement is “using poor social situation in Kosovo for gathering political points and spreading of hostility toward Serbs”. “Statements made by the leader of Self-Determination are irresponsible and dangerous, and I believe that relevant institutions in charge for security will react,” said Stojanović to Danas.
