The Serbian Foreign Ministry has said that it does “not recommend” Serbians to travel via the Gevgelija/Idomeni border crossing between FYROM and Greece.
This comes as several thousand refugees from the Middle East, stranded at this railroad crossings, on Friday clashed with Macedonian police and soldiers.
According to the Serbian MFA, introduction of “a crisis situation” in FYROM on Thursday “has not affected the traffic regime on the country’s main roads and border crossings, other than the increased presence of the military and the police.”
Serbian citizens traveling to Macedonia have also been advised to act cautiously, and not accept hitchhikers to their vehicles – as this can, under FYROM’s law, be considered an act of “migrant trafficking” – an offense that could result in imprisonment lasting several years.
