Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic believes that Serbia can prevent Kosovo’s UNESCO membership in November by using diplomatic means and activating as many countries as possible to support its cause.

Dacic said that this topic would not be tabled if Resolution 1244 was honored. “However, since the world is filled with double standards, particularly with regard to Serbia, the topic ended up on the agenda of the UNESCO Executive Board and the General Conference. This means that we have to activate as many countries as possible to take our side”, Dacic said in an interview for Radio and Television of Serbia.

Dacic also stressed that Deputy Kosovo Prime Minister Hasim Taci is wrong when saying that Kosovo’s UNESCO membership is in line with the Brussels agreement. He went on to say that Thaci is using all means available in an attempt to misuse what has been agreed in Brussels.

”This issue has never been discussed in Brussels, the topic of Serbia’s cultural heritage is yet to be put on the agenda. Without any prior agreement in Brussels, they have submitted a membership application. This is an abuse of the agreement,” Dacic said.
