During Vetëvendosje’s General Council meeting, the chairperson of this movement, Visar Ymeri, said that the establishment of the Association of Serb majority municipalities might disintegrate the Republic.

According to Ymeri, Kosovo negotiators with Serbia, namely Isa Mustafa, Hashim Thaçi and Edita Tahiri are the main deniers of the Republic of Kosovo.  Ymeri emphasized that in order to establish the Association, the Constitution needs to be amended because, as he said, the Association violates the Constitution.

Ymeri said that the Association, by controlling the natural resources of Kosovo, will block any opportunity for Kosovo’s economic development.

Civil society against financial support to the accused persons by Special Court

(KTV)

The law on legal protection and financial support of the potentially accused persons in legal processes at the Specialized Chambers continues to be challenged even after a month since its approval.

Civil society is against Article 3 of this law, which stipulates the legal protection for the accused persons. However, what is considered as fair is the financial support for family members of the accused persons since the Special Court will be located outside Kosovo.

Despites the opposition and the numerous critics that the law on legal protection and financial support of the potentially accused persons in legal processes at the Specialized Chambers violates the human rights, civil society did not filed any request at the Ombudsperson to initiate the revision of this Law at the Constitutional Court.

Kosovo Ombudsperson, Hilmi Jashari, earlier said that as soon as the law is published in the official page, he would study it and if there is any violation he would submit the law for interpretation at the Constitutional Court.

However, this can barely happen if the civil society itself does not request such an action.

Kosovo Ombudsperson, through said to KTV that so far the Ombudsperson did not receive any request from civil society to initiate the procedures for the revision of this Law.

Artan Krasniqi of Kosovo Democratic Institute said that there should be support for family members of persons accused by Special Court because; they would have to travel to see their family relatives, since the Special Court would be located abroad.  Krasniqi expressed against financial support for legal protection to persons accused by Special Court.

Petrit Zogaj of “FOL” and Dren Doli of GLPS expressed same stance against the financial support to persons accused by Special Court but emphasizing that families of the accused should be supported.

Opposition parties also are against this Law as they are in general against the Special Court.
