The representatives of the Bosniak community, the third largest community in Kosovo, have asked the international community to influence the Kosovo officials to indicate greater respect and provide better living conditions for Bosniaks, because they do not have their home country upon which to rely.

Member of the Assembly of Kosovo in front of the New Democratic Party Emilija Redzepi said that the absence of officials and the ministers of the Albanian community from the conference say a lot about their attitude towards Bosniaks.

“Please, in the name of the Bosniaks, with all the issues which bother us – high unemployment, migration, the problems of local government and the education system in the Bosnian language, to influence our officials to respect the Bosniak community which has no home country and does not have anyone to rely. Bosnian nation is the nation of peace and tolerance, a nation that respects the values and diversity, but which above all respects itself, its traditions and its faith and language,” she said.

Bosniak Minister without portfolio in the Government of Kosovo, Rasim Demiri said that unemployment was very present and that Bosniaks were not employed either at local level or at the central Kosovo level. He said that promises were not fulfilled on decentralization of municipalities with the Bosniak majority community.

Member of the Assembly of Kosovo in front of the Bosniak coalition Vakat Duda Balje said that at local and central level was discussed about the problems of Bosniaks, but, she added, these problems convey from year to year.

Bosniak community after the Albanian and Serbian is the third community by the number. According to the last census, about 30 thousand Bosniaks were living in Kosovo, but northern Kosovo did not participate.

They live mainly in Prizren, Pec/Peja and Mitrovica region. The community is represented in the Assembly by three MPs and in the government in front of the Bosniak community are one minister and one deputy minister.
