PM Mustafa requests finalisation of SAA and visa liberalisation

Prime Minister Isa Mustafa met today with EU Foreign Affairs High Representative Federica Mogherini in New York and requested finalisation of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA) and visa liberalisation for Kosovo citizens.

In the meeting with Mogherini, where minister Hashim Thaçi and minister Bekim Çollaku took part, it was also discussed about achievements and advancement of integration processes of Kosovo.

PM informed them about the general progress achieved in Kosovo, and the commitment of Kosovo Government to reforms.

“We will fulfil the five-six remaining criteria hoping that we will meet all the technical conditions,” Mustafa said.

On the other hand, Mogherini commended the European integration progress being made in Kosovo.

 Veseli urges President to call a meeting of political leaders

The Assembly of Kosovo will convene twice during this week, but Prime Minister Isa Mustafa will not report to it.

Assembly Speaker Kadri Veseli called on the opposition to use Assembly podium for debate, and not to block it. He called once again on the President to negotiate a meeting of leaders to overcome the current situation.

Otherwise, the opposition parties have reiterated the stance that they will not take part in Assembly Presidency meetings and that they will block any plenary session irrespective of the methods that the parties in power will use against them.

Over 101.000 people sign opposition’s petition

Over 101.000 signatures have been given by citizens to the petition that opposes recent agreements with Serbia in Brussels and agreement on border demarcation with Montenegro.

These statistics were published by the petition’s coordination body. Opposition representatives called on citizens to continue with signing of this petition. Its signing is expected to go on for several more days. 

Kosovo and Serbia reach agreement on mutual recognition of diplomas

Kosovo delegation led by minister Edita Tahiri, which is in Brussels for the new round of talks between Kosovo and Serbia, has reached agreement on mutual recognition of diplomas between Kosovo and Serbia.

With this agreement, parties pledged to mutually recognize diplomas and to respect procedures and deadlines of respective legislations. This agreement includes all the university levels, secondary school diploma, vocational education, and the fifth level of education according to the European Qualifications Framework.

Two Roma community members attacked in Roma Mahala

(RTK2)

On Monday night, a group of Albanian young men attacked several members of Roma community members in Roma Mahala of Mitrovicë/Mitrovica South.  On this occasion, they injured two Roma members with knives.

The two injured young Roma, out of which, one is seriously, were transported to Kosovo University Clinical Centre (KUCC) in Prishtinë/Pristina, while they attackers were arrested, police reported.

One of the injured says he does not know the motive behind this attack, and emphasises that provocations against them are daily.

Mitrovicë/Mitrovica South Mayor, Agim Bahtiri, visited gathered Roma community members. He called for peace, underlining that it should be worked on building of trust and on higher level of tolerance in such multi-ethnic environments. He condemned the attack on behalf of Mitrovicë/Mitrovica residents.

Stojanovic selected as Srpska List Coordinator

(RTK2&Klan Kosova)

Until a new representative is elected, the Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo, Branimir Stojanovic, will be the new Coordinator of Srpska List.

On the other hand, Srpska List caucus leader Slavko Simic told RTK2 that this caucus is united and it will continue to work with the chairperson of this List, Aleksandar Jablanovic. 

Indictment filed in the MTPT Case

Special Prosecution of Kosovo has filed an indictment against Nisma për Kosovën leader, Fatmir Limaj, in Ministry of Transport Post and Telecom (MTPT) Case. The indictment was also filed against four other defendants.

Fatmir Limaj’s reaction was immediate. He said that the MTPT Case proves that the Prosecution continues with the mentality of manipulating the truth with the only aim to denigrate his personality. 

Police destroy 105.000 ammunition units

(TV21)

Ministry of Internal Affairs in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) destroyed over 105.000 ammunition units confiscated by Kosovo Police.

Ministry informed that this destroying of this ammunition was done as part of Kosovo Small Arms Control Strategy and Action Plan.
