UNESCO Executive Council adopted the agenda on Monday without voting which includes the point concerning the proposal for Kosovo’s membership in the organisation, but the real issue is not embodied in members reaching a consensus, it is a precedent, Serbian Ambassador in UNESCO Darko Tanaskovic said.

Tanaskovic said that after the adoption of the agenda without voting, representatives of Russia, Cuba, China, Argentina, Spain and Brazil opposed the idea for a creation such as Kosovo to be granted membership and announced that they would provide an explanation of their stand at a plenary session on October 21 when the point is due to be discussed.

The countries believed that it is better not to challenge the agenda as the debate could not be staged on Monday concerning the points which have not even been adopted, Tanaskovic said.
