The Association of Journalists of Kosovo and Metohija (DNKiM) and the Association of Journalists of Serbia (UNS) protested against new violations of the guaranteed rights of the Serbian community on the official use of mother tongue by the President of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga, since at yesterday’s press conference was not provided a translation into Serbian.

The Associations recalled it was a continuation of the unacceptable practice of the Cabinet and the President of Kosovo, and that they continue to deny the Serbian translation, despite the law on use of languages and numerous protests of the Serbian media community.

“DNKiM and UNS once again ask the Serbian representatives in the Kosovo institutions, the Office of the Language Commissioner and the Office of Community Affairs to react and fight for respect of the Serbian language, as it is one of the official languages in Kosovo”.
