North Mitrovica Mayor Goran Rakic will not sign a memorandum on border demarcation with the Mayor of South Mitrovica because it is to the detriment of the Serbian people, Ksenija Bozovic said to the RTV KIM.

The village of Suvi Do, geographically located in North Mitrovica, is an important point of the current issue of the division of the city.

President of the Assembly of Northern Mitrovica Ksenija Bozovic has confirmed that she talked about this yesterday with Mayor Rakic and that his decision was not to sign a memorandum.

“The memorandum, mentioned by the EU and representatives of the Albanian community, was not signed because that plan goes to the detriment of the interests of the Serbian community and the mayor of North Mitrovica will not sign it. I hope that the EU will still have understanding because only dialogue can identify interests of all communities. I hope that they will reach a compromise, “said Bozovic.

According to the Statute of the municipality of North Mitrovica and its cadastre, the village of Suvi Do belongs to the northern part of the city, or the municipality.

On the other hand, according to the Kosovo Law on Administrative Municipal Boundaries, the village of Suvi Do is attached to the cadastral zone of the municipality of Mitrovica South.

Despite disagreement between two municipalities about the village of Suvi Do, the works on the main Ibar/Iber Bridge are taking place.
