Kosovo Assembly Deputy Speaker Xhavit Haliti told the news site that the initiative of President Atifete Jahjaga to meet the political leaders and discuss how to overcome the current political crisis was unnecessary. According to him, this is not within President’s responsibilities.  Even though, Haliti said that if these meetings have positive effect, then it might help in reducing the tension in the Assembly. According to him, sitting in a round-table with political leaders and making decisions there might be risky for Kosovo institutions. “If there is a round-table to only discuss things, that would be okay. But a round-table with political leaders where they make decisions there, it would undermine Kosovo institutions,” Haliti said, adding that the opposition’s demands might be fulfilled but only in the Assembly. He also noted that in every Parliament of the EU member states, an MP who throws teargas would not only be dismissed but also that person could never run again to become Member of Parliament.
