Opposition: No compromise for the agreements

(All monitored broadcasters, KTV)

After the meeting with President Atifete Jahjaga, the three opposition leaders, Visar Ymeri, Ramush Haradinaj and Fatmir Limaj, said that there is no withdrawal from their initial requests, and that these requests are uncompromising and uncontroversial.

Furthermore, they said that new sessions of the Assembly should not be called, as, according to them, this would only deteriorate the situation further.

During Tuesday, President also met with representatives of Srpska List and 6+. None of the representatives of 6+ caucus was willing to talk to media.

On the other hand, Srpska List, headed by Aleksandar Jablanovic, held a one-hour meeting with Jahjaga. Jablanovic said that he supports President Jahjaga in her efforts, but there should no political crisis in Kosovo as the governing coalition has the parliamentary majority.

US Embassy in Kosovo supports political dialogue

(All monitored broadcasters, TV21)

The Embassy of the United States in Kosovo strongly supports President Jahjaga’s attempts to foster political dialogue among the political parties represented in Kosovo’s Assembly.

“The Parliament is Kosovo’s most important institution and its function is vital to Kosovo’s democracy, prosperity, and security.  We call on all parties to renounce any threats of violence, which are both illegal and not compatible with a modern democratic state,” states a press release issued by the US Embassy.

Next plenary session called for Friday

(All monitored broadcasters, TV21)

During Tuesday the Kosovo Assembly Presidency decided that the next session will be held on Friday at 16:00hrs.

Assembly Speaker Kadri Veseli said that they are firm in protecting the institutions, and that there will be no teargas, or anything else that will back them down from holding the session.

Opposition reacted immediately after calling of the Assembly session for Friday. Through a joint letter they stated that the call and the persistence to hold the session will deteriorate the situation further.

“There will not be any continuation of the session as long as there will not be a withdrawal from the agreements. We will not stop the protest, no matter the hour that the session will be held and how threatening the state police are,” the letter adds.

On the other hand, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Hashim Thaçi called on the opposition to reflect about the solution of situation in Kosovo.

In an interview with TV21, DPM Thaçi said that he had meetings with opposition leaders in the spirit of identifying a solution for the situation created.

Abbot Sava Janjic not willing to talk to Kosovo-Albanian media

(Most monitored broadcasters, Klan Kosova)

There are sixteen years since the end of the conflict, but the Visoki Decani Monastery is still guarded by KFOR soldiers. Leaders of this religious monument that is protected by UNESCO are not all that willing to talk to Kosovo Albanian-speaking media, although they have become part of the Belgrade-launched campaign.

Besides the Serbian state, the abbot of Visoki Decani Monastery Sava Janjic has also come forward against Kosovo’s membership to UNESCO. But the latter was not ready to talk to Klan Kosova.

According to Deçan/Decane historians, Janjic’s claims are inconstant. Selim Lokaj, chairperson of the Kosovo Historians’ League “Ali Hadri”, Deçan/Decane branch, says that Serbs’ claims over the Monastery are political.

The UNESCO Executive Council will decide on Wednesday regarding Kosovo’s application in this world organization. Other TV broadcasters reported that Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, travelled to Paris to attend the UNESCO Executive Council’s meeting.

Investigation into maltreatment of VV activists started

(KTV)

It seems that last week’s violent protest was the reason for beating up some of the Vetëvendosje activists. Arrested on Monday, these activists said they were beaten up within the police station.

They say that police commander Driton Imeri and several other officers took part in their beating.

VV activist Shkëlqim Morina still has signs in his body. Aside from being beaten, VV members claim that they were constantly cursed and insulted. Furthermore, they said that police officers told them to also send their regards to the VV Organizational Secretary Dardan Molliqaj.

Shortly after Vetëvendosje disseminated pictures explicitly showing wounds of the activists, the Kosovo Police called on Police Inspectorate to start its investigations.

The Police Inspectorate has already started the investigative procedures into this case.

Vetëvendosje caught a person installing surveillance devices at its offices

(Klan & Kosova KTV)

Through a press statement issued Vetëvendosje Movement said that around 15:00hrs of Tuesday it caught a person in the Movement main offices as he was trying to install surveillance devices near the Vetëvendosje Presidency offices and the office of its chairperson – Visar Ymeri.

According to Vetëvendosje, this person, that was not carrying any identification document with him, said that he was a police officer. Initially he did not accept to reveal his identity, while he later said that his name was Qerim Krasniqi. The devices he had with him were found by the activists. This person was handed over to Police together with the devices he was carrying with him.

According to VV, the surveillance methods against political opponents are being added to the police repression of Isa Mustafa.

Police still has not given any explanations regarding this case.
