The first man of Serbian Academy of Science and Art, Vladimir Kostic,  says that after all that has been said in regards to his statements on Kosovo he would like to put an end to the discussion suggesting his “case” as the beginning of a dialogue.

“This, what happened to me, shows the extent to which communicating in scientific, artistic, intellectual, political, economic and other elites is disconnected in this country. My case must mark the start of a dialogue,” said Kostic. He recalls that with this statement he essentially quoted Dobrica Cosic, who earlier spoke about “decent leaving of Kosovo,” but, as he says, “it is not adequate to cite now the words of a dead man.”

He pointed out that in fight for Kosovo we must define with what we are fighting: “I advocate for the provision of all property, legal, cultural and religious rights for the Serbs in Kosovo. And for our inheritance. I would fight by all means for our cultural history. One academic who dealt with the Kosovo told me that this can be resolved only through international agreements. If we go on bilateral agreements with Pristina – we will lose everything,” said Kostic.

He admitted that the current position of Serbia is very difficult, but says that it requires compromises, appeasement, and the decisions that are absolutely not popular, in an atmosphere where one actually ritually play patriotism.
