The outcome of voting at the UNESCO General Conference on admitting the so-called “Republic of Kosovo” is difficult to predict, Chairman of the Russian State Duma Foreign Affairs Committee Alexey Pushkov said yesterday.
Russia and its allies oppose the Kosovo’s membership in UNESCO, Pushkov told reporters ahead of the promotion of his book in Serbian language: “Post Scriptum – Can Putin Help Russia”.
Russia will insist on its stand that Kosovo cannot be a member of international organizations, and the result of the vote in UNESCO’s General Conference is difficult to predict as it will be decided by just three to four votes, he said.
Nevertheless, Pushkov voiced his belief that Kosovo would not become a member of the Council of Europe and UNESCO, though the countries of the West and their allies recognized the independence of Kosovo.
