The chairperson of the Serbian parliament’s Committee for Kosovo and Metohija, Milovan Drecun, said today that it is of utmost importance that states opposed to Kosovo’s independence are present at forthcoming UNESCO General Conference and vote when decision is made about Kosovo’s membership in that organization. According to Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic, voting over Kosovo’s membership in UNESCO should take place around 9th November.

“Handing over protection over cultural monuments to institutions, which in past years, used to destroy and demolish them would be irresponsible, and it would undermine the international order of the UN and what UESCO stands for,” said Drecun.
