Although the end of the first semester in primary and secondary schools in the south of Serbia is close, the National Council of Albanians (NSA) still insists on “unblocking more than one hundred thousand copies of textbooks in Albanian language coming from Pristina, which are still stored at the customs terminal in Presevo.” “We do not give up distribution of the textbooks that are donated by the Kosovo Ministry of Education to the pupils in Bujanovac, Presevo and Medvedja. We organized protests in schools in southern Serbia, where Albanians are learning, but we also expect support for our action in Pristina and Macedonia, especially by our compatriots in Bitola,” confirmed for Danas Jonuz Musliu, president of the NSA.
According to unofficial information, we were told that “the deadline for storage of textbooks at the customs terminal in Presevo is extended until further notice.” Close to 25 tons of books will remain blocked until “the competent inspection bodies verify the content of each of the book. That means minimum thirty books earmarked for different subjects in primary and secondary schools,” confirmed a source close to our list in customs authorities in southern Serbia.
