Unemployment, lack of investments and lack of perspective in Serb-majority municipalities in Kosovo Pomoravlje (Eastern Kosovo) have mostly influenced on migration of Serbian population from that region, said mayors of Parteš/Partesh and Klokot/Kllokot municipalities, Dragan Nikolic and Srecko Spasic in a TV show ‘Dogovor’.

Both municipalities will have around EUR 800.000 in their budgets next year what, according to mayors, would not be sufficient for normal functioning of the local self-governments. The main reason, according to them, for having insufficient budgets provided by the Kosovo government is the result of latest census organized by Kosovo institutions, that is, refusal of most of Serbs to participate in it.

Nikolic also warned on big migration of population in his municipality, whereas Spasic said that unemployment is big problem as well, since young graduates from secondary schools and faculties have no job opportunities. Spasic elaborated that young can find jobs only in institutions and this can happen only in case that someone passes away or retires in Kosovo institutions, whereas when it comes to Serbia-run institutions it is impossible due to regulation which prevents employment in public institutions.
