Jahjaga: We must now allow dialogue to be imposed through violence (RTK)
Kosovo’s President, Atifete Jahjaga, said during the annual conference on the judiciary, that Kosovo must not allow for dialogue to be imposed through violence or for democracy to be challenged on a daily basis. “Dialogue is the only path we must follow,” she said. “Our people want us to provide non-compromised justice against organized crime and we must restore the people’s trust in the judiciary by way of implementing reforms and by staying free from political influence. We must fight corruption because no one can be above the law”. Jahjaga also talked about Kosovo’s role in the fight against terrorism. “Kosovo has never been and will never be a hearth of terrorism. We will never allow the harmony between the different religions in our country to be ruined,” she said.
O’Connell: Dialogue is the way forward (Koha)
The British Ambassador in Kosovo, Ruairi O’Connell, is communicating directly through Facebook with citizens of Kosovo, replying to the many questions that are sent to him. The main topic of discussion was the current political crisis in Kosovo. Asked about the agreements that are being rejected by the opposition, O’Connell said he does not see a threat from the Association/Community of Serb-majority municipalities. “To be frank, I don’t see any threat from the Association. We have called for the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia and dialogue is the way forward. The European Union is the mediator in this process,” O’Connell writes.
Opposition parties to hold manifestation in Gjakova today (media)
The opposition bloc consisting of the Vetevendosje Movement, Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) and the Initiative for Kosovo (NISMA), will hold a manifestation in the city of Gjakova/Djakovica today at 13:00, in opposition to the agreement for the Association/Community of Serb-majority municipalities and the border demarcation agreement with Montenegro.
Police raid house of intelligence officer, in search for Muhaxheri (Koha)
The paper reports that members of Kosovo Police were certain on Wednesday evening that Lavdrim Muhaxheri, a terrorist from Kosovo who fought alongside ISIS, was hiding in a house in the village of Llanishte, in Shtime municipality. When police raided the house they did not find Muhaxheri, but a member of the Kosovo Intelligence Agency (AKI), who works as an assistant to the director of the anti-terror unit in Ferizaj. The raid was carried out in the wrong location. The paper also learns that police carried out the raid after having tapped conversations between two AKI officers.
Belgrade-Pristina bus attacked with stones in Serbia (RTK)
The news site reports that a bus that travels from Pristina to Belgrade was attacked by stones in Serbia on Friday evening. No human injuries have been reported. Serbian Police went to the site to investigate the incident. The driver of the bus told reporters that this was not the first time their buses have come under attack.
