Two Vetëvendosje MPs, Albulena Haxhiu and Faton Topalli, were arrested on Tuesday by Kosovo Police based on an arrest warrants issued against them for the criminal offence, release of teargas at the Assembly of Kosovo.

Basic Court in Prishtinë/Pristina issued a thirty-day detention measure against VV MP Albulena Haxhiu, while MP Topalli was initially issued 48-hour detention measure.

Vetëvendosje requested their immediate release and said that continuation of opposition MPs arrest will escalate the situation further and it will deepen the crisis.

Simic: Albanians do not want to harm Serb minority

(Klan Kosova)

When he visited Goraždevac/Gorazhdec village on Monday, he did not this as part of the delegation led by the Director of Serbia’s Office for Kosovo, Marko Djuric. A day after the incident when the houses of Serbs were sprayed with gunshots and the village monument was demolished; Slavko Simic is calling for identification of a local solution for this settlement.

By doing so, Srpska List chairperson Slavko Simic, is coming out with a different stance even from the Serbian Prime Minister, Aleksandar Vucic.

“I do not expect anything from the international community in this case. The issue of attacks should be solved by Kosovo Police. Interior minister together with Pejë/Pec police commander should go out in the field and talk to people in these areas. It seems that the monument in Goraždevac/Gorazhdec, which is very valuable for the Serbs, is bothering someone,” Simic stated.

To avoid such situations, Srpska List MP told Klan Kosova that law enforcement forces must increase static patrolling and, according to him, this is done with a little political will.

Simic, who lives in Leposavic/Leposaviq, says that there is a scenario behind all the recent attacks against Serbs.

“I know that Albanians do not want to harm the Serb minority, but there are individuals who want to create conflicts and so to launch a series of incidents in the north, where Serbs attack Albanians. We should be careful with this and parties should distance themselves from the individuals who are carrying out the attacks,” Simic said.

“No one should say that in this case there is extremism and terrorism. We are talking here about minors who do not know what to do,” Simic said.
