Joint political entities of the opposition persist on not to giving up the blockade of Kosovo Assembly. Vetëvendosje MP Shqipe Pantina says that opposition MPs will also protest in the plenary session of the Assembly which has been called for Monday.

Opposition has made it clear that it will use teargas even in Monday to prevent normal proceeding of the session.

According to Albert Krasniqi of Kosovo Democratic Institute, which monitors Assembly’s work, the work of MPs from the ruling parties at a time when the Assembly is undergoing blockade for four months, impacts on the Assembly’s work seriousness and in its results.

On the other hand, PDK caucus leader Adem Grabovci told Kosovapress that Monday’s session will be held irrespective to the pressure and blockade that MPs of the ruling parties might face.

“It will be decided about next year’s budget, and this will happen,” Grabovci insists.

Many flaws in proceedings by regular courts

(Friday, 11 December, KTV)

Significant flaws continue to accompany proceedings by regular courts in Kosovo. Indicators that measure quality of performance, published in the second edition of Justice Monitor by the OSCE, note that there violations of human rights of individuals to trial within a reasonable period of time and violations of the rights of access to justice.

The publication is based on data that came out of monitoring of 3227 court hearings in 1957 cases in Kosovo courts since 1 July 2014.

Among others, the findings note that 27% of hearings were unproductive, while the reasons include problems with summoning of parties and witnesses, failure of the judge, prosecutor or lawyer to appear in the hearing, or their unpreparedness for the case.

Furthermore, in 342 monitored cases, OSCE assessed clear ground for appeals based on constitutional rights, while concerns were also expressed regarding the independence and impartiality of 10% of the judges monitored.
