Kosovo’s President, Atifete Jahjaga, yesterday welcomed the government’s approval of the Regulation on recognition and verification of the status of victims of sexual violence during the 1999 conflict in Kosovo. “The approval of this regulation marks an important step ahead towards offering institutional support and realization of rights for the survivors of sexual violence during the war, thus paving the way to the recognition and verification process,” Jahajga said. She expressed the determination to continue with institutional and social support for dignified treatment for the survivors of sexual violence, civilian war victims and all other war categories. Jahjaga expressed her conviction that this determination will follow the other remaining steps towards complete fulfillment of all rights foreseen by laws of Kosovo and undertaking of all necessary measures for guaranteeing their rehabilitation, re-socialization and reintegration.
