Kosovo’s Prime Minister, Isa Mustafa, told Klan Kosova the protest organized by the opposition does not ensure the organization of new elections, regardless of the number of citizens that participated in the protest. He added that all citizens’ requests will be considered. “We are very responsive to citizens in fulfillment of our promises. It is the right of the opposition to protest and also the citizens should know why are they protesting, but protests cannot justify new elections,” Mustafa said. In regards to the Association/Community of Serb-majority municipalities, Mustafa said he only continued the process, because it was already started by the previous government. “We have inherited the original agreement which was reached in April 2013,” he said. According to him, the government had consultations with US experts prior to signing the agreement with Serbia. He reiterated that the Association/Community will not have executive powers.
Speaking about the coalition with the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), Mustafa said he believes that Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) MPs will support Hashim Thaci’s candidacy for Kosovo President. “The agreement will be fulfilled and Thaci will become President,” Mustafa said.
In regards to visa liberalization, Mustafa said the EU doubled the criteria for visa liberalization for Kosovo. “We have fulfilled all the requirements. Now the EU has to make a political decision. We cannot justify to our citizens as why they are the only ones in the region that cannot travel freely in the EU,” he said. In the end, he also added that his cabinet is not corrupt and if any corruption affair emerges, he is ready to take action.
