Kosovo’s Minister for European Integration, Bekim Collaku, has requested from the European Union countries to treat Kosovo in an equal manner as its neighboring countries.

He assessed that it is the prime time for EU to do so. During a presentation on the achievements of Kosovo in the European path, organized by Aspen Institute in Berlin, Collaku spoke about the issue of visa liberalization. “It is the prime time for Kosovo to be treated in an equal manner as the neighbors and for the process of European integration not to be limited only on the work of the institutions but to be something that our citizens could experience directly. We spoke about all the achievements marked on implementation of the Guidelines for visa liberalization, and about how this is something that we could jointly be proud of,” Collaku said.

“The opportunity of visa liberalization would strengthen the European determination towards Kosovo, it would push forward the reforming process and accelerate the European agenda. This would not be only an interest of Kosovo but of the entire region and Europe itself,” he said.

Collaku wrote on his Facebook page that the German Special Envoy for Western Balkans, Turkey and EFTA countries, Ambassador Ernst Reichel and German MP Ernst Kirchbaum, who leads with the Parliamentarian Committee for EU issues at the German Bundestag, also participated in this discussion.
