Yesterday the Management Board of the Development Fund awarded almost EUR 1.9 million for projects in municipalities in northern Kosovo. The Leposavić/Leposaviq municipality will receive over a million EUR, North Mitrovica will receive EUR 400.000 and Zvečan/Zveqan  will receive EUR 450.000.

The European Union Office in Pristina communicated that funds allocated to Leposavić/Leposaviq municipality will be used for three start-up projects supporting small and medium businesses, agricultural development, construction and reconstruction of cultural and sport premises and construction and repair of ‘uncategorized’ local roads. Funds allocated to North Mitrovica municipality will be used for the construction of the regional institute of culture, and Zvečan/Zveçan municipality will receive funds for the construction of a youth house, land expropriation, and the cleaning of illegal industrial waste.

So far the Fund for Development has awarded over EUR 6.6 million, out of the EUR 8.3 million that have been collected so far, to municipalities in north Kosovo. The allocation of the funds is decided by the Management Board composed of Samuel Žbogar, Chair of the Board in his capacity as the EU Special Representative in Kosovo, Kosovo Minister of Finance Avdullah Hoti on behalf of the Kosovo authorities, and Danijela Zubac on behalf of the Serb community.
