At a press conference held yesterday in Belgrade, the Serbian Radical Party (SRS) requested the Serbian Parliament Speaker Maja Gojkovic to call for elections throughout the territory of Serbia, including Kosovo and Metohija. SRS leader Vojislav Seselj stressed that this is a ‘constitutional and legal obligation of the Speaker of the National Assembly”.

“For the Serbian Radicals, it is unacceptable for local elections to be organized and held in Kosovo and Metohija according to the Brussels Agreement, and institutions of the self-declared state of Kosovo,” communicated the SRS.

The SRS is not the only opposition party that has requested Serbian local elections to be organized in Kosovo and Metohija. At the end of the last year the Patriotic Block consisting of the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS), the Dveri movement, the Serb-Slavic solidarity association, the “Grigorije Stepanovič Ščerbina” association and the “Old Serbia” civic movement staged a public forum where they also requested the organization of Serbian local elections in Kosovo and Metohija, and launched a petition for collecting signatures in support to this motion.
