Protests, led by the Czech MP Jaroslav Foldina have taken place in Prague in support of Serbia on the occasion of the eight anniversary of the unilateral declaration of independence of Kosovo.

In an interview with the paper, Foldina said that people in Czech Republic are expressing solidarity with Serbia as they consider that 24 March 1999 was the biggest step in disrupting EU stability, and the next one was the day of the declaration of independence of Kosovo.

He explained that the Czech Parliament voted a resolution stating that Kosovo doesn’t exist as an independent state and recommended to the government to treat the Serbian province of Kosovo in line with the UN SC Resolution 1244, but the government did not follow the advice and decided to recognize Kosovo.

When asked whether it is too late for such a protest, Faldina replied that it is not too late and that ‘state of Kosovo was already mentioned in the report of the European Parliament Rapporteur Dick Marty’. He added that he hopes that it will also be the topic in future trials at the special war crimes court in Hague.
