Kosovo Assembly MP Albin Kurti, from Vetevendosje movement said to TV Dukagjini that the protest of the united opposition to oppose Hashim Thaci’s election for president of Kosovo, will start on Friday at 10:00 hours. According to Kurti, the government is trying to pass for president an individual who accepted the Demarcation and Association/Community of Serb-majority Municipalities. “There was no extraordinary session in Kosovo for education, healthcare or the North. The government has called for an extraordinary session to make president a person who failed as head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, by failing at making Kosovo a member of UNESCO, and by failing at the visa liberalization process,” Kurti said.

According to him, the nationwide protest has exceeded the number of the united opposition. “There are people who do not belong to any party, who have said that “I am here as the citizen of the Republic, and as a citizen that does not have any other homeland but Kosovo.”

“We have gained the permission from Pristina Municipality to set our tents on the two squares of the capital. We have permission to stay there until 8 March,” Kurti said.

Kurti called on the Diaspora to also join tomorrow’s protest saying that “we need a powerful protest.”
