The EU will continue to offer assistance aimed at creation of the court chambers and Office of the Special Prosecutor, including necessary funds, so that the special court for crimes committed by the Kosovo Liberation Army can start its work this year, Tanjug learned in Brussels.

EU’s European External Action Service spokesperson Maja Kocijancic said that the EU welcomes the fact that Kosovo has accomplished the establishment of important legal framework in the process of the creation of the court chambers of the special court and as well as in the process of enabling the functioning of the Office of the Special Prosecutor. She further said that the Netherlands still has to ratify the agreement, however the step that Kosovo president Atifete Jahjage made in ratifying the agreement was a key step in this process.

Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga ratified the agreement with the Netherlands on organization of the institution of the Special Court of Kosovo dislocated in the Netherlands, informed her cabinet on Monday. The Special Court will be comprised of the international judges and will work in line with the laws of Kosovo.
