Mustafa: There will be no new municipalities (Zeri)
Kosovo’s Prime Minister, Isa Mustafa, while commenting on statements by opposition parties that the government will soon establish another Serb-majority municipality in Prilluzhe, said that the government will not establish new municipalities and that this topic is non-existent. “The government is focused on the implementation of the economic program, creating conditions for opening new factories, for new jobs, for economic development and not for the establishment of new municipalities. Therefore let’s not waste our time with non-existent topics and utilize the time and energy for the development of the country,” Mustafa said. The opposition parties yesterday held a protest in Vushtrri/Vucitrn against the establishment of another Serb-majority municipality of Prilluzhe.
Opposition not united when it comes to border-demarcation (Koha)
The paper reports on its front page that the opposition parties are not united when it comes to meeting the international committee established by President Atifete Jahjaga to asses border-demarcation with Montenegro. The leader of the Initiative for Kosovo (NISMA), Fatmir Limaj, already met the international experts, while next week this committee will meet the leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj. According to the paper, Vetevendosje’s leader Visar Ymeri will respond negatively to the call for such a meeting. The ad-hoc committee will give their assessment on border-demarcation within two weeks, however the Assembly President Kadri Veseli said the MPs will have the final say on this issue.
Avramopoulos calls on Kosovo to fulfill visa liberalization requirements (Koha)
The European Union Commissioner for Migration, Home Affairs and Citizenship, Dimitris Avramopoulos during a press conference in Tirana, Albania, called on Kosovo authorities to step up the efforts on fulfilling the visa liberalization requirements. “We never sent negative signals. We tried to help Kosovo. My desire is to help, but also be helped,” Avramopoulos said. He also announced that very soon he will travel to Kosovo.
KSF ministry official Dugolli released from detention (RTK)
The Kosovo Security Force Ministry official, Gafurr Dugolli, this morning was released from the detention center in Skopje, where he was being held by the authorities of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM). He was arrested last Friday in Skopje, based on an international arrest warrant issued by Serbia for offenses linked to the 1999 conflict in Kosovo.
Next Assembly session on 24 March (dailies)
The Kosovo Assembly Presidency during its meeting on Friday decided that the next session of the Assembly be held on 24 March. The MPs are expected to vote for the members of the Procurement Review Body. Kosovo Assembly President Kadri Veseli told media that the Assembly very soon will make a very serious offer to the opposition parties in order to overcome the current political crisis.
