Personal opinion of the Vice-President of the European Parliament and the Rapporteur for Kosovo is also the opinion shared by majority in the EP, as was frequently shown in debates and voting on my reports. And Mr. Djuric is aware of it, from our private and very good conversations that we also had, said Lunacke while commenting the latest statements of the Serbian Government’s Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Marko Djuric. Djuric earlier said that Lunacek’s statement that Serbia can’t become the member of the EU before it recognizes independence of Kosovo, is her ‘private opinion’.

Lunacek told the daily “as I recently said, in an interview to Kurir, I am convinced that European Council will not agree to accept, after Cyprus, another member state of the EU without clearly defined borders”, and added that what is important is progress in the accession process which is supported by her and majority in the European Parliament.

On the other side Djuric earlier told Tanjug agency that “when it comes to Ms. Lunacek, she is one of many hundreds of MPs in the European parliament”. “I respect her opinion, but that is her private stand,” said Djuric and reminded that position of Serbia is ‘completely different’.
