Kosovo and Serbia fail to agree on recognition of ADR certificates (Koha)
The meeting between delegations from Kosovo and Serbia on the mutual recognition of ADR certificates for transport of dangerous goods ended without an agreement, media report. The meeting that took place in Vienna lasted throughout the day and while, according to a statement by the Kosovo delegation, the EU put an outmost effort in facilitating the dialogue, the parties did not agree. As a result, the Kosovo delegation, led by Dialogue Minister Edita Tahiri and Minister of Trade and Industry Hykmete Bajrami, stated that the reciprocity measures will remain in place until such an agreement is reached.
Kosovo insists on border demarcation with Serbia (Zeri)
Kosovo’s Minister without portfolio, Edita Tahiri, said yesterday that the Kosovo side requested that border demarcation with Serbia be included in the Pristina-Belgrade dialogue. According to Tahiri, for this stage of talks Kosovo has also other topics to discuss, such as mutual recognition between the two countries, division of property and the issue of war reparations. “We presented a list of topics for dialogue and the main topic is the border demarcation between Kosovo and Serbia,” Tahiri said.
Grabovci: Opposition rushed to politicize demarcation process (Epoka e Re)
The Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) parliamentary group chief, Adem Grabovci, told the paper on Monday that the opposition parties had rushed to politicize the demarcation of the border between Kosovo and Montenegro. He said that this was a technical issue, “but political parties rushed to politicize it before the matter reached the Assembly”. Grabovci also claimed that part of the opposition is trying to destabilize and dysfunctionalize Kosovo.
Collaku: We expect positive report on visa liberalization (Zeri)
Kosovo’s European Integration Minister, Bekim Collaku, met yesterday with the EU Special Representative to Kosovo, Samuel Zbogar to discuss Kosovo’s European agenda. Collaku and Zbogar also discussed the visa liberalization process for Kosovo. “The report of the European Commission’s evaluation team on the fulfilment of the eight additional recommendations in this process is expected to be positive and will open the way to the expected decision on visa liberalization for citizens of Kosovo,” Collaku said.
LB: Serbian elections, aggression toward Kosovo (Epoka e Re)
The Movement for Unification [Levizja per Bashkim], a partner in the ruling coalition, issued a reaction on Monday opposing the holding of Serbian parliamentary elections in Kosovo. According to this party, holiday Serbian parliamentary elections in Kosovo’s territory would constitute an aggression. “The way that Serbia views these elections constitutes an aggression toward Kosovo. Serbia does not view these elections as an opportunity of its citizens to vote from another country, but it continues to view Kosovo as part of Serbia. Based on this, these elections are used to accomplish Serbia’s political objectives in Kosovo,” the communiqué said.
