The paper’s front-page editorial today argues that Kosovo Prime Minister Isa Mustafa says that his government doesn’t have any scandals or corruption affairs, while the United States report on human rights concluded that the endemic corruption in government and businesses in Kosovo is very worrying. “The US report is yet another confirmation that corruption has spread its roots in state institutions and that the ruling parties use corruption and non-transparent practices in managing public funds and employment in government, municipalities, police, universities, agencies, boards and embassies. Kosovo government leaders are determined to block any serious effort in the fight against corruption. Not coincidentally, each council, agency, task force or investigative team have failed in their tasks. However it should be noted that the international community has also left its mark on encouraging corruption. EULEX, as a rule of law mission in Kosovo, even though it has all the evidence on the involvement of senior officials in corruption affairs, did not bring any of them to justice.”
