Kosovo Prime Minister Isa Mustafa during his visit to Shtime/Stimlje municipality today said that the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia in Brussels, launched three years ago, has been very difficult. The results of this dialogue, according to Mustafa, have been evident. “Through dialogue we managed to overcome the problem of the north of the country. Now there is communication between the Government of Kosovo and the mayors of the north, and they have accepted the Kosovo budget and are applying the laws of Kosovo,” Mustafa said. “Now we will conclude the process of rule of law in all the municipalities of the Republic of Kosovo. For some agreements, the implementation doesn’t go very easily, such as the issue of telephone code, the issue of energy and the revitalization of bridge over the Ibar River. There is also the issue of parallel structures, and I can say that no more agreements will be reached without dissolution of all parallel structures in the north,” he said.
While regarding the creation of the Association/Community of Serb-majority municipalities, Mustafa said that the decision of the Constitutional Court was clear on this matter. “We will try to involve all interested parties in drafting the statute of the Association,” Mustafa said, adding that the Association/Community will not have executive powers.
As for the opposition’s request for early elections, Mustafa said next parliamentary elections will be held in 2018. He also added that the government is open for dialogue with the opposition parties in order to overcome the current situation.
