Fear from broad government reshuffling (Koha Ditore)
The paper reports that the international community is interested in seeing major changes to the -current government of Kosovo composition and considers that those affecting only three ministries are not sufficient. Sources told the papers that international diplomats in Kosovo have suggested the government needs a renewed vigour and this calls for a deeper reform. “If there is no reflection on the addressed demands, the internationals said it will be difficult for the current government to carry out its full term and avoid early elections,” the unnamed source said. The paper however adds that the coalition partners, the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) and the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), view the prospect of broad reshuffling with fear that this may bring to surface ambitions amongst different groups within the two ruling parties.
Ymeri: United opposition, thing of a past (RTK)
Vetevendosje leader Visar Ymeri said in an interview for RTV 21 that there is no more coordination between opposition parties. He said his party, Vetevendosje, is determined to continue its opposition against the government on its own. “We had some unilateral decisions, mainly from the AAK, which caused damage to our common cause,” said Ymeri adding that the decision of AAK leader Ramush Haradinaj to attend a meeting of political parties called on by then president of Kosovo Atifete Jahjaga was one of the first cracks in the united opposition. Ymeri also announced that Vetevendosje would not be joining the AAK protest scheduled for 14 May.
Veseli announces candidacy for PDK leader post (dailies)
Kosovo Assembly President Kadri Veseli officially announced yesterday his candidacy for the leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK). He said his decision to run for the post was taken after careful consideration and consultation with his family and colleagues. “In the coming days, I will visit all regions of Kosovo, I will talk to the members and loyal voters of our party and make efforts in mobilizing and strengthening party structures,” said Veseli.
Tahiri sees progress in six border crossing points with Serbia (Epoka e Re)
Kosovo’s minister without portfolio Edita Tahiri said there is significant progress in preparations for the construction of the six permanent border crossing points with Serbia based on the Integrated Border Management (IBM) principles. Tahiri said the government of Kosovo is timely implementing all requirements linked to the implementation of the border crossing points agreement reached with Serbia in Brussels.
