Situation of Serbian media in Kosovo is worsening every next year, along with the economic uncertainty, various pressures, attacks on journalists and overspread censorship and auto-censorship, says chairperson of the Association of Serbian Journalists in Kosovo, Budimir Ničić.

“There are journalists who are not hiding who they are working for, that is, they openly put themselves on the side of the regime and certain political parties, and by doing so they are trampling more and more on journalists’ codex, ethics and our profession, what is neither good for the society we live in nor for the journalists’ profession,” said Ničić to RTV KiM, and added that the economic factor is a prevailing one in the work of privately owned Serbian media in Kosovo.

Representatives of Serbian media and associations in Kosovo today did not stage any gatherings on the occasion of the International Day of Media Freedom, however some of them have joined the call of the Association of Journalists of Serbia for ‘five minutes of a super loud silence’, and ceased their program to broadcast a proclamation about poor situation in media in both, Serbia and Kosovo.
