European Commission’s decision to lift visa regime for Kosovo residents traveling to European Union has revealed once more the incompetence, amateurism, and maybe even bad intentions of Serbian negotiators in Brussels, Serbian National Forum (SNF) communicated.

In a communique forwarded to media the SNF stressed that the EC decision has left Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija as the only ones in Europe who would still need visas to travel to the EU. “Passports issued by the Republic of Serbia, possessed by them, are not the same as passports of other citizens of Serbia, because they are issued by the so called Coordination Department”, argues SNF and further state that lifting of the visa regime for Kosovo people also refers to Serbs, but only if they have Kosovo passports. The SNF further says that statement of the director of the Serbian Government’s Office for Kosovo Marko Djuric that Serbian side will take all necessary steps that visas are lifted and for Kosovo Serbs who travel with passports issued by the Coordination Department, sounds grotesque, rude and tasteless.

The SNF further argues that such efforts of the Serbian side will, in the end, lead to situation that Serbs will have to apply for passports of the ‘Republic of Kosovo’, what presents continuation of the policy of integration of Serbs into Kosovo institutions. The SNF concluded that all this was obviously defined by the Brussels agreement and that Serbian side should admit this to its citizens.
