Mustafa: Demarcation will be solved before summer

(KTV)

Addressing the LDK Convention of 28 May, Prime Minister of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa, asked the vote of LDK MPs for demarcation with Montenegro, certain that it will happen before summer holidays.

But, the PDK caucus leader, Adem Grabovci, is not aware of this, KTV reports. He told KohaVision that this issue was not discussed at the caucus and they do not know if the demarcation issue can be finalized soon in the Assembly.

Grabovci is neither aware if there will be a new plenary session this week and said that so far there is no invitation for meeting of the Assembly Presidency this week.

The opposition, however, is certain that it will strongly oppose this process.

Vetëvendosje plans to return to protests in the streets and in the Assembly to prevent ratification of demarcation, a condition already set by the EU for visa liberalization of Kosovars.

This is also stated by Valdete Bajrami of Nisma për Kosovën. She told KTV that no matter who will organize the protest, they will join.

In the meantime, analyst Albert Krasniqi said there is readiness, from LDK in particular, to unilaterally pass this agreement in the Assembly, by completely ignoring the opposition. But, according to him, the PDK statements have also changed.

Otherwise, a meeting of the Assembly Committee for European Integration was planned to be held with the Head of the State Commission for the Border Demarcation, Murat Meha. This meeting was cancelled and committee members told KTV that no explanation was given to them, but the absence of some committee members, who are abroad, might be the reason for this.

Opposition against PM Mustafa’s idea for Commission on Association

(TV21)

Opposition parties object the idea of Prime Minister Isa Mustafa regarding the establishment of the Commission for drafting the statute of the Association of Serb majority municipalities.

Representatives of the opposition say no to the Prime Minister’s invitation to take part in this Commission. They say that establishment of the Association is in contradiction with the Constitution of Kosovo.

Opposition has different views regarding the other agreement, the one on border demarcation with Montenegro. In AAK-Nisma coalition say they will not take part in tomorrow’s meeting of the Committee on European Integrations where the Head of the State Commission for the Border Demarcation, Murat Meha, is expected to report. Whereas, in Vetëvendosje announce their participation in the meeting of this Committee.

Nevertheless, opposition members have expressed their willingness to take part in a new commission to review the agreement on border delineation with Montenegro.

Jevtic pledges support for return of the displaced from Montenegro

(RTK2)

Kosovo Minister for Communities and Return Dalibor Jevtic visited Montenegro on Monday where he met with the Montenegrin Minister of Labor and Social Welfare, Boris Maric.  Jevtic and Maric discussed the return of 14 displaced families from Montenegro to Kosovo and facilitation of sustainable return for all the displaced persons.

Both ministers stressed the importance of solving the issue of displaced persons who want to return from Montenegro to Kosovo. Jevtic said the Ministry he leads and Kosovo local self-government will fully support the return of displaced families.

“We will work on return of 14 families (from Montenegro), but our target will also be to increase the number of returnees from Montenegro to Kosovo. The Ministry of Communities and Returns takes over the responsibility related to provision of financial assistance when it comes to return. However, it is important to say that the local self-government in Kosovo plays an important role,” Minister Jevtic said.

On the other hand, Minister Maric stated that the first steps for return of displaced persons will be taken after the signature of an agreement between the two ministries.
