Mayor of Pristina and an official of Vetevëndosje, Shpend Ahmeti says that the Association/Community of Serb Municipalities (A/CSM) is not a good solution. He also says that Albanians believe that A/CSM is necessary to Serbs only to destabilize them.

“I am for dialogue with Kosovo Serbs, not with Belgrade. I think their concern makes sense, but when Djurić (Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija) talks about it, then you think that it’s a game of Serbia with Kosovo. If Serbia would say that Kosovo is a done deal, we will recognize it after the dialogue and consider the position of Serbian population, we would be prepared to talk and about it, but also about the A/CSM, “Ahmeti said in a discussion with students of Faculty of Political Science in Belgrade, reports Danas daily.

“But when they say that they will never recognize us, that we are a non-existent country, although we do not have permission for Eurovision, let alone football and everything else, while they want A/CSM here, of course, we will reject the A/CSM, because we believe that they need it to destabilize us.”

Ahmeti explains that this is not about a position of Serbian population in Kosovo, than Serbia’s interests in Kosovo.

“When we talk with the Serbs in Kosovo, there are no disputes or problems, we will build confidence,” said Ahmeti.

He and his movement believe in the socio-economic integration of Serbs, and not the institutional, said Ahmeti.

“We have supported a quota system, according to which two ministers should be Serbs, but it did not work. The only thing that had worked out was that they built, in a short time, magnificent villas and have improved their personal situation. Socio-economic integration for us means that people sell their products to each other, the children go to school together,” said Ahmeti.

He adds that Self-Determination is not against negotiations and the dialogue, but that they are fighting against dialogue without principles, that every international politician who comes to Kosovo only mentions the dialogue and nothing more, and that the sides need to deal with common problems; primarily with corruption of Albanians but Serbs also.
