Representatives of Ministry of Justice, Kosovo Judicial Council, Kosovo Prosecutorial Council and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) participated today in the round-table on coordination mechanisms for strengthening the rule of law in Kosovo.

Kosovo’s Justice Minister, Hajredin Kuci, noted the importance of coordination of these judicial institutions and said that the ministry he leads has been careful to build a good legal infrastructure. “We have noticed that at certain moments there must be coordination through justice institutions and this coordination will strengthen our institutions. It never happened for a draft-law to be send to the Kosovo Assembly without coordination with Prosecutorial Council and other institutions,” Kuci said.  Kuci also emphasized that there is still work to be done, mentioning a review of the justice sector with the Judicial Council, Prosecutorial Council and other stakeholders. He praised the justice institutions for the work done in the field of European integration, saying that recent reports have been positive for Kosovo laws.

Deputy Permanent Representative of the UNDP, Alessandra Roccassalvo, said that Kosovo has made progress in a very short time. “Since I arrived in Kosovo a year and a half ago, my main goal was to bring the world in Kosovo, and Kosovo to the world. We are here to do what we do in any other place, to support Kosovo and its efforts to become part of the European Union. Kosovo has made progress in a very short time while many other places couldn’t,” Roccassalvo said.
