The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Kosovo On Wednesday  launched the preliminary report on the findings and recommendations from the “Corruption Risk-Assessment in extractive industries (mining/other)”. The discussion centered around the findings and recommendations, with representatives from local and central institutions, civil society, and independent bodies.

Patrick Etienne, director of the Swiss Cooperation Office in Kosovo, said that Switzerland has helped Kosovo and will continue to do so. “We support the efforts against corruption in Kosovo and that is why we are contributing jointly with UNDP to this program. Currently we are preparing the strategy for 2017 to 2020. The priorities are to reform the accountability systems and mechanisms. This naturally has a direct connection with political interference and the fight against corruption, bad governance, bad management… This in Kosovo during the last period has shown no significant progress,” Etienne said.

The full report is to be published in the coming days and will assist institutions in preventing and fighting corruption in this sector.
