Mustafa: Government will act as required by the EU (dailies)
Kosovo’s Prime Minister, Isa Mustafa, said on Friday that the border-demarcation agreement with Montenegro will be sent to the Assembly for ratification very soon. When asked to comment about the European Union’s demand that the demarcation issue is finalised prior to summer break, Mustafa said Kosovo institutions will act as required by the EU. Mustafa made these comments during a visit to a textile factory Kosova Tex.
LDK MP Bulliqi to initiate debate on demarcation (Koha)
The Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) MP, Shpejtim Bulliqi, has collected 24 signatures from the MPs intending to bring together the government commission on demarcation and experts to present their arguments on border-demarcation issue. The Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) parliamentary group chief, Adem Grabovci, who also signed the initiative, said this debate could have happened much earlier but “opposition was not willing to cooperate.” Meanwhile, Vetevëndosje Movement MP, Albulena Haxhiu, said this debate will serve as a fact that the government commission made mistakes. The Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) has not yet decided whether they will be part of this debate, but nevertheless, they say they support such an initiative.
Minxhozi: Demarcation cannot be solved with flags (Zëri)
Albania’s Ambassador to Kosovo, Qemal Minxhozi, during an interview with the paper urged the Kosovo government and the opposition parties to find a solution to the issue of border-demarcation with Montenegro. Minxhozi said the border-demarcation issue cannot be resolved by placing flags and signs, but through dialogue. According to him, also civil society can play an important role in this matter.
Assistant Secretary of State Nuland to visit Kosovo on Sunday (dailies)
The US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, Victoria Nuland, will visit Kosovo on Sunday. Nuland is expected to meet Kosovo President Hashim Thaci, Assembly Speaker Kadri Veseli, Justice Minister Hajredin Kuçi and Foreign Minister Enver Hoxhaj. Nuland will also meet with Deputy Prime Minister Branimir Stojanovic, while opposition parties are not on the agenda of her visit, dailies report.
