In North Mitrovica was presented a project “Women’s rights and the Brussels agreement,” which is jointly implemented by the NGO “Women’s Rights” and Radio Mitrovica North. The project aims to contribute to better realization of women’s rights in the process of normalization of relations between Pristina and Belgrade. Director of the NGO “Women’s Rights” Ružica Simić assessed that the interests of the women were not sufficiently represented by the Brussels agreement. She particularly emphasized that women, beside their problems like it is domestic violence, alimony and similar, need to deal with the institutions of both systems.

Director of the Radio Mitrovica North Maja Fićović emphasized the importance of local media in the process of exercising the rights of women. “The media and NGOs should be partners. If an activity is not covered through media, it looks like it never existed, because citizens are not informed, “said Fićović. She stressed that this project specifically focuses on the three laws that greatly affect the position of women in Kosovo: the Law on the Ombudsman, the Law on the protection from discrimination and the Law on gender equality.
