A “Platform on practical politics of the Serbian community in Kosovo” was presented yesterday in Mitrovica north. This platform identifies problems in five areas that should be addressed in order to strengthen the position of Kosovo Serbs.

Working groups of the Serbian dialogue forum, in last 18 months, have analyzed the situation of Serbian community in Kosovo and identified five areas as key ones for the security and progress of Serbs: mechanisms of protection of the community, economic development, education, social and health welfare.

“We have the analysis that offers good insight in the situation on the ground, and we have the platform that offers recommendations for improving the situation on the ground in the interest of not only the Serbian community, but in the interest of all communities in Kosovo,” said Dina Milovanović, the researcher and author of the analysis dubbed “Force of the Joint Voice”.

Project ‘Force of the Joint Voice’ had the goal to establish the dialogue among Serbs in Kosovo, because, so far, there was no interaction of the civil society and political representatives of Serbs at central and local levels.

“We have offered solution that are going beyond the municipal boundaries and beyond the competencies and possibilities of single entities, thus we see the Community (of Serb-majority municipalities) as a suitable mechanism that will coordinate efforts of all stakeholders in order to implement the platform,” said Nenad Maksimović, co-author of the platform and executive director of the NGO Center for Peace and Tolerance.

Three NGOs have worked on this project, Center for Society Orientation, Future Without the Fear and Center for Peace and Tolerance. The project was supported by the European Union Office in Kosovo.
