Kosovo’s President Hashim Thaçi told reporters in Pristina today that it is a great honour for Kosovo to welcome the U.S. Vice President Joe Biden. “20 years ago when we were faced with annihilation by Serbia, then-U.S. Senator Joe Biden, became our voice. An independent and sovereign country, Kosovo has now strengthened peace, stability and cooperation in the region. We have made important steps in the normalisation of relations with Serbia. It is our duty to give new dynamic to dialogue with Serbia so that we can achieve reconciliation between our nations as soon as possible. I am confident that reconciliation is possible and that it will happen,” he said. President Thaçi said the issue of the border-demarcation between Kosovo and Montenegro will be concluded soon. “The demarcation agreement is a fair agreement. The decision of the Kosovo Assembly will strengthen our statehood and pave way to our certain integration in Euro-Atlantic structures and visa-free travel. I want to be frank with the people: without ratifying the demarcation deal with Montenegro and without establishing the Association [Community of Serb-majority municipalities] in accordance with our Constitution, Kosovo will remain alone and isolated from the world, and left aside by the U.S. and Brussels. We cannot ask for anyone’s assistance if we don’t do our homework,” President Thaçi added.
