Kosovo government intends to reconstruct its ranks, namely to reduce the number of ministries to the detriment of Serbs. According to the web portal Sputnik, the Ministry for Communities and Return which is led by a Serb, would be abolished and would be lowered at the level of the Office, which will operate under the auspices of the Prime Minister’s cabinet.

It is about the only ministry that has produces some results on the field, by directly assisting to Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija. It appears that exactly this has been seen as a problem by the Kosovo general auditor, who forwarded his objections about ministry’s financial operations and support to construction of the returnee settlement for around 1500 Serbs in the returnee settlement ‘Sunny Valley’ in northern Kosovo.

The Minister for Communities and Return, Dalibor Jevtić, said to Sputnik that no one from the Serbian List, including him, was not invited so far to discuss this issue by the ruling Kosovo Albanian parties and coalition partners.

According to the plan on Kosovo government’s reconstruction, the new government would abolish seven ministries, whereas the Serbs would retain only the post of the Deputy Prime Minister.

There are indications, following resistance of the international community to this plan, that Serbs would be offered to run the Ministry for Spatial Planning, which is for now only an insinuation. Kosovo government currently has 20 ministries, out of which two are led by Kosovo Serb representatives – Ministry for Communities and Return and Ministry for Local Government Administration.
