LIBE to vote on visa liberalisation for Kosovo on Monday

(RTK2 & Klan Kosova)

The Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) is expected to vote on Monday on visa liberalisation process for Kosovo, thus opening way to the European Parliament to vote regarding the same process.

In the meantime, the European Union (EU) Enlargement Commissioner, Johannes Hahn, told Radio Free Europe that legal timeframe for visa liberalisation for Kosovo is unclear, because, according to him, it still depends on Kosovo’s decisions.

Hahn said that Kosovo’s condition related to demarcation of the border with Montenegro has not been fulfilled. He reemphasised the stance that now everything depends on Kosovo itself.

Different stances regarding radicalisation in prisons

(TV21)

Dozens of people arrested on terrorism charges who are being kept in Kosovo prisons are seen as a risk to influence on other prisoners and as a risk to join certain groups after completion of their prison sentence.

Minister of Interior Skender Hyseni raised the alarm about this issue few days ago when he reported to the Kosovo Assembly Committee on Internal Affairs, Security and Supervision of the Kosovo Security Force.

However, at the Kosovo Correctional Service deny existence of such a risk, saying that no attempt for radicalisation was noted.

On the other hand, Head of the Council for Defence of Human Rights and Freedoms, Behxhet Shala, considers that extreme rise of radicalism is a consequence of failure to fight corruption, crime, smuggling and other illegal actions.

Gecaj: We will talk with Serb community

(RTK2)

Deputy Minister of Local Government Administration at Government of Kosovo, Bajram Gecaj, reacted after the failure of the Assembly to ratify Agreement on Border Demarcation with Montenegro.

Gecaj said that Serb community faces different problems compared to other non-majority communities but, according to him, it also has a different approach regarding all major issues in Kosovo.

“Since we did not achieve to overcome these issues until now, we will discuss with them and try to solve these issues during the next two weeks, or within a month,” Gecaj said.

Adea Batusha considers terrorism charges as a political montage

(KTV)

Adea Batusha considers her arrest and charges raised against five other Vetëvendosje activists as offensive and political montage.

In an interview with KTV from her home, where she is under house arrest, Batusha said it is still is not clear to her what is going on with the case against her and the other five activists.

Batusha said that at the time the attack against the Assembly happened she was drinking coffee at the Hospital Neighbourhood, and she learned about this attack later from the media.

She said Police did not tell her why she was being arrested, it put her under psychological and verbal pressure during the interview, but she did not say a word, insisting on remaining silent.

Atdhe Arifi, Astrit Dehari and Egzon Haliti are being kept in detention, while Frashër Krasniqi, Petrit Ademi and Adea Batusha were sentenced to one-month house arrest. Police suspects that these six Vetëvendosje activists organised an attack against the Assembly of Kosovo building on the evening of 04 August this year.
