After meeting the most senior authorities at the EU in Brussels, Kosovo’s Foreign Minister Enver Hoxhaj is visiting today Strasbourg where he met with Euro-deputies of different political parties and powerful parliamentary groups of the European Parliament.

Within the margins of Autumn works of the European Parliament in Strasbourg, Hoxhaj met separately the S&D shadow rapporteur Pier Antonio Panzeri, Head of the Delegation for Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina, Tonino Picula, Head of S&D group Gianni Pittella together with Tanja Fajon, rapporteur for Kosovo David McAllister and co-chairman of the European Parliament Committee for Foreign Policies, Elmar Brok.

During these meetings, Hoxhaj informed the interlocutors about the recent political developments in Kosovo, Kosovo-EU relation, as well as the dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade. The main intention of these meetings was request for support on liberalization of visas and expression of appreciation for the LIBE voting during the last week.

“I had very substantive meetings with MEPs, parliamentary groups and the rapporteurs who cover Kosovo and the region. I informed them about the engagement and commitment of the government of Kosovo to fulfill all the obligations from our side in order to receive the positive recommendation for visa liberalization very soon. I can say that we have strong support of the European Parliament MPs for Kosovars to travel without visas very soon,” said Hoxhaj.

He is expected to hold a range of separate meetings with other MPs as well as with Commissioner Dimitris Avramopolous and the Secretary General of the European Council, Thorbjorn Jagland.

During his first day of the visit Hoxhaj met in Brussels with Commissioner Hahn, and Head of the EU Foreign Policies, Frederica Mogherini.
